Course Description: This instructional program prepares individuals to understand the related aspects of health and wellness with special emphasis on nutrition, emotional health, and physical health; the relationship of an individual’s health to the family’s wellness; the prevention of illness; and the basic care of the ill, including the elderly, young child, and individuals with disabilities.
Course Objectives:
1. The student will be able to examine physical, emotional, social, psychological and spiritual components of individual and family wellness.
2. The student will be able to assess the impact of food and diet fads, food addictions, and eating disorders on wellness.
3. The student will be able to assess reliable health information.
4. The student will be able to understand the benefits of exercise to your physical health.
5. The student will be able to understand the digestive system and it’s processes..
6. The student will be able to assess mental and emotional health.
7. The student will be able to understand mental disorders and their causes.
8. The student will be able to examine the Integumentary, Skeletal, and Muscular Systems.
9. The student will be able to examine the Nervous and Endocrine Systems.
10. The student will be able to examine the Circulatory and Respiratory Systems.
