Course Description:
This is a quarter course that is designed to teach students the skills necessary to make decisions and solve problems that will prepare them for life after high school. During the course, students will interact with professionals that represent a variety of career areas as well as visit with recruiters from multiple colleges and universities.
Course Objectives:
1. The student will be able to analyze personal characteristics.
2. The student will be able to demonstrate positive character traits.
3. The student will be able to investigate areas for personal growth.
4. The student will be able to differentiate between needs and wants.
5. The student will be able to evaluate personal goals.
6. The student will be able to practice decision-making.
7. The student will be able to apply leadership skills.
8. The student will be able to examine workplace policies (i.e., leaves, dress codes, use of technology).
9. The student will be able to examine work ethics.
10. The student will be able to demonstrate appropriate work attitudes and behaviors.
11. The student will be able to compare the impact of career choices on family life.
12. The student will be able to develop a plan for achieving career goals.
13. The student will be able to complete a college/university application.
14. The student will be able to complete a scholarship/job application.
15. The student will be able to complete applications for finanancial assistance.
